Wondering if we have any people here from this area on the Cape? The other night I watched a Dateline episode about this mystery in Falmouth where the wife of a man who owned a trucking company in Falmouth was murdered. It was quite obvious the hit was put out by this mans sons who wanted to collect money from the dead wife. The really interesting and disturbing part of the story was the reign of terror and the hold the father had on this town for decades. The man Melvin Reine lit anyone's howuse on fire who he ever thought crossed him, even lit the sheriffs car on fire in his own driveway. He was also responsible for at least three murders and performed a drive-by shooting where he shot a town cop in the face. Instead of the Falmouth cops going after him with all of their resources they turned on the cop and he was forced to move out of state with his family where they lived under assumed identities for fear of their lives. The entire Falmouth police department was corrupt and for some strange reason this Melvin Reine character could kill and do whatever he liked with total impunity. It is absolutely chilling that this took place and hard to believe.

Found this story about his death online.http://capecodwave.com/falmouths-inconvenient-legend-melvin-reine-dies/

the family has had a house in East Falmouth for over 100 years. My long deceased granddad always knew to stay clear of this family

This is amazing. A low-rent Whitey Bulger.
