As some of you know, I update a graph on the baseball teams progress during the year. I hope many (or at least some) of you enjoy these updates. I like them because it keeps me interested in teams outlook on possible NCAA invite. If you have any suggestions during the year , let me know.
I figured goals the team should be shooting for, that should get them a NCAA at large bid. Based this on information I have researched over last few years. Obviously this is not an exact science, but I think if goals are reached ( or exceeded) , we would be in good shape.
Below are goals for year. I also looked at this years schedule and gave UConn wins and losses based solely on last years RPI for teams we are playing this year. This does not take into account any positive or negative roster changes for our opponents or even ourselves. Just a way to very unscientifically look ahead at this years schedule. We play 56 regular season games, and I am adding 4 conference tourney games ( giving us a 2 -2 record ). This gives us a total of 60 games.
So here it goes.
This years goals
(1) Record 37 wins
(2) RPI < 50
(3) Top 4 in AAC regular season
Projected Record based on RPI comparisons as stated above
38 - 22
Based on the goals and RPI comparisons we should again be in contention for an NCAA bid. Again hope some of you think this is interesting. I realize this is a little OCDish ( at least that is what my wife and kids say), but I enjoy it
