Hi y’all. As many of you know, Mrs. Z and I have retired to Guatemala, specifically Panajachel, Solola, on the shores of beautiful Lake Atitlan. Mrs. Z has just joined the Board of Directors of Panajachel Colegio International, a bi-lingual high school here, which is currently looking for a director, and is always looking for teachers. The purpose of the school is to provide some local kids with an education superior to that provided by the local school system, at a reasonable cost. If you or anyone you know might be interested, give me a pm.
The ideal person would be retired, have good experience in education at the HS or JHS level, love teaching, be interested in retiring to a small Guatemalan town with beautiful views, friendly people, and very reasonable living costs (and quite a lot of ex-pats), be reasonably fluent in Spanish, and have sufficient retirement income that the relatively small salary we are able to offer would not be a serious problem. For the director’s position, some administrative experience as a department chair or similar, at whatever level, which involved observing and evaluating instructors would be pretty much a must. For teaching or the director’s position, some training and/or experience in ESL would be extremely valuable.
