Years ago I was at a seminar and a bunch of us were at dinner. Someone asked one of those innocuous conversation questions---"what do you normally like to do on Sunday afternoons?". There were lots of "go to the movies, tend to the garden, read the NY Times" answers until a young attractive woman from down south said--" "Well, on Sundays I make a big pot of pasta and me and my boyfriend just love to sit and watch football all afternoon". It was amazing how the table grew suddenly silent as every guy's jaw dropped in jealous disbelief.

Is it odd to find a girl who like watching football? I'm old and married now, but I dated dozens of girls who were fine with watching or going to games. I went to the Champs Sports bowl with a girl to see HER team. I had a girlfriend that wanted to go to UConn/UMass in Amherst and go to Giants/Eagles the next day. I had a girlfriend who was an NC State fan who wanted to drive to Clemson for a game.

My wife's patient runs out at about 9 pm after UConn home games, but if there is something that really needs to be watched it's not a problem. She was actually bothering me for SEC Championship scores during the Cincinnati game.

Who watches commercials anymore? The 1:00 games start at 2:30 and the 4:15 games start at 5:45. Basketball games start at half time. I fast forward through all those 30 second interuptions to the actual game. DVR is a beautiful thing.
