For those of you traveling to Indianapolis from out of town, as are we; I have completed a very exhaustive research project documenting a few of the local pubs within 2-3 blocks of Banker's Life Arena. Since I have never visited Indianapolis before, I cannot assure you of the quality of these establishments. But, I do plan to spend the first day in town visiting as many of these places as possible. For obvious reasons, I will be unable to provide any updates following my visits. So, here is the list in no specific order.

Claddagh Irish Pub - 234 S. Meridian St.

Tilted Kilt - 141 S. Meridian St.

The Pub - Indianapolis - 30 E. Georgia St.

O'Reilly's Irish Bar & Restaurant - 36 S. Pennsylvania St.

Ike & Jonesy's - 17 West Jackson Place

Paddy's Legal Beagle Pub - 20 N. Delaware St.

Coaches Tavern - 28 South Pennsylvania St.

If anyone wishes to add to this list, please do!

If you are into wine there is a place nearby, I think right next to the Hyatt, called Tastings. You go in and get a pre-paid card that allows you to sample a bunch of different wines. They have light eats too. Wife and I were there a couple of years ago to watch the Dream with Angel & Shoni and stumbled upon it. If you really like any of the wines you can purchase a bottle for 20% off.

In my limited experience of Indianapolis:

The Ram - 140 S. Illinois St. (brewpub/sports bar that is part of a small chain, food is ok, beer is pretty good. I suggest the flight - 4 oz. each of 5 different beers for a good price)

For food:
St. Elmo's - 127 S Illinois St #2 (the definitive local steak house, as far as I know)
Maxine's - 132 North East Street (the greasiest of greasy spoon breakfast joints but their chicken & waffles were tremendous)

Great deli: Shapiro's Delicatessen
808 S Meridian St

Also, I hear that the NCAA museum, which is in the NCAA headquarters, is worth a visit. Also a terrific Indian Art museum nearby

If my team was about to win it's 4th straight Natty, I'd be in the mood to splurge!

:) But I'd wait until after it was over.
And, all those Irish pubs make me nervous. Notre Dame lost, right?
OTOH, St Elmo's wine list contains:
Campania, Taurasi, Radici, Mastroberardino
