Beavs need to win to keep hopes alive for hosting first two rounds of NCAA tourney. Currently at #16 in RPI.

Only meeting of the year for OSU-Washington this season. Washington coming off a home sweep of the LA schools last weekend.

Beavs by 13.

UW is down to 1 post player, 6-3 Fr. Quay Miller. 6-4 Darcy Rees and 6-3 Ali Bamberger both went down w/ season ending injuries recently. I know OSU has had serious attrition to their front court as well but they are still left w/ 4 potential players at the 4 and 5.

Just can’t see UW pulling off the upset here. But they sure did some home court heroics last week. I’d like to see OSU host. They draw so well.

Washington hanging in there pretty well.

They're hard to figure. Not a lot of talent and the record isn't very good, but they've hung w/ some good teams all throughout the season.

Melgoza has 12 midway thru Q2, Huskies only down 1.

edit--make that 14

Goodman has awoken from her recent slumber, 3-3 behind the arc so far

Melgoza was keeping it close, but a steady dose of Jones down low and threes by the Beavs should control the game. UW only has Melgoza...nothing else. Beavs already up 9.

It's looks like it's pretty much Jones and Goodman vs. Melgoza. 2 is better than 1. OSU up 37-30.

OSU was up 10 but UW closed the half on a 8-0 run. Melgoza has 20.

Melgoza was 14-26 from the floor. Nobody else in double figures. This was still a 6 point game inside the 5 minute mark of the 4th quarter. OSU found their 3 point shooting stroke and Jones had her way on the interior, really surprising it was a game almost the whole way.

I started watching a recording of this while the game was well into the 2nd half. So Melgoza had 2 points in the first quarter until the last possession when she got another bucket. So she scored 18 points in about 10 minutes and a couple seconds. That was quite a 2nd quarter performance.

I watched the whole game live, even when the score got close I was never worried. UW led only twice during the game, once in the 2nd qtr for 30 seconds, and once in the 3rd for 30 seconds which Mik tied with 18 minutes left and Destiny made a layup for the lead 40 seconds later which was never relinqushed. You are also correct Melgoza went unchecked in the 2nd qtr which pissed Scott off. He zoned more in the 2nd half and maintained control.

Amber Melgoza moved into the top 10 career scoring list at UW. With at least 2 more games to go she should end up at #8 and go over 1700 points. Basically didn't play as a Fr. so that's all in 3 years.

Pivec went over 1000 career rebounds and is now really, really close to joining the 1500/1000/500 club that was discussed in another thread.

On Melgoza, her recent games has moved her up the PAC season scoring leaders, especially in conference play. Overall she is 6th at 17.0/gm, just behind #4 Ruthie at 17.2 & #5 Sabrina at 17.1, and just ahead of #7 Satou at 16.7. Slocum is #9 at 15.0 and Pivec #10 at 14.8/gm. In conference play Melgoza is tied at #2 with USC's Pili at 19.4/gm. only behind Aari's 20.9 gm, and just ahead of #4 Sabrina's 18.8/gm. Still she's done it with less minutes so she leads the league with pts/40 at 26.0. #2 is Ruthie (23.8), #3 Aari (23.8). & #4 Satou (23.4). Pretty impressive on a lousy team

The one cool point about Pivec's 1K rebounds is she's the shortest player in PAC12 to achieve it at 5'10" (per PAC12 Network announcers last night). Given that fact I wonder how many sub 6ft players have done it since 2 did it in the PAC12 this year as Sabrina is 5'11".

That's pretty crazy that they both hit the milestone within a few days of each other.

She's really heated up as the season has progressed. They showed last night she's led all Pac 12 scorers for the month of February (21.3 ppg), and that was before adding on 34 last night.

Wynn really kept her minutes down in OOC and her scoring was well below what she did as a Soph and Jr. as a result. She was trying to force other players to become scorers but it really didn't work, and just kinda looks like she was punishing her best player. Wynn did the same to Peterson and she really never got on track this season. Melgoza obviously was able to flip the switch as soon as conference play started.
