HCBD had good intentions with the whole UCF/ConFLiCT thing, but he went about it the wrong most ineffective way, IMHO.
In the present college sports environment (which sucks, if we're being totally honest), the best way to start a cfb rivalry, for better or worse:
* Hit that team harder than their opponent did the previous week, or their next opponent will the week after.
* Hold your blocks just a hair longer than their opponent did the previous week, or their next opponent will the week after.
* When you score on them: let them know about it personally, and ask them what they're going to do about it when it happens again.
* When they score on you: next time out on defense, hit them a little harder than you did the previous time out on defense.
* Reach into your Bag of Tricks, your Chock Full o' Nuts can, that Old Tin of Butter Cookies from Last Christmas, wherever - and hit them with at least three plays or schemes you haven't called all season and have been saving just for them.
* When you beat them, publicly promise to do it again next time you meet.
* When you lose, publicly promise to beat them next time you meet.
It's not rocket surgery, and it doesn't take a fabricated trophy to pull off. It just takes talent, good coaching and desire - with just a sprinkling of genuine malice towards a team that, yanno, just dissed you and your entire school really bad last Saturday..
