For even the most rabid UCONN fan, lets be honest. The Big East, WAS, IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE a basketball conference. It was formed as a basketball conference, it tried to morph itself into a football/basketball conference, when it added, Pitt, ND, West Va, Va. Tech, and Miami, but it could never shake it's real identity. Georgetown, St. Johns, PC, Villanova, Marquette, De Paul were basketball schools, and never considered making the jump to the big-time football programs. The losses of Cuse, B.C, Pitt, ND, West Va, Va. Tech, and Miami to other conference's sent the Big East into a frenzy of searches for replacements. When Penn St. and others rejected the overtures, they went to the silliness of trying to add schools from far flung locales, which made the term Big East seem ludicrous. It's time for Uconn to hit the road. If the ACC does make an invitation, then they should go for it. The Big East is not going to approach the heights of the ACC, SEC, BIG-10, in football, so if UCONN fancies itself as a football/basketball school, then they better get with the program, and hope that B.C does not again throw up a roadblock. As to it's coach, in football, THAT is a thread for another time, and place.
