Nice story.
ESPN has big articles about Stewie and Moriah. We need more for Tuck and Nurse.

These were specific to the 'Top 25' WNCAA players list they created, and the Moriah article was less about her than about being closed out by a teammate when looking at great players. Doubt they will be doing one for each of the top ten players, and of course they left Kia out of the top 25.

I watched the video and then there was a video with Geno and Moriah and Breanna talking about the 4 peat chances. This was followed by a video with Dawn Staley being interviewed with other SEC coaches saying that the SEC is the toughest league and has the best coaches of any league in women's college basketball. Do you feel that to be true??? I really don't because beyond South Carolina and Kentucky along with Tennessee, I'm not coming up with schools that strike me as being anything special. Maybe I'm missing something.

I think the ACC has taken over from the BE as being the strongest conference with the best overall coaching line-up, and mostly because of the addition of the BE teams. The SEC games the RPI a bit better than other leagues, but as you say once you get past those three and maybe MissSt and TxA&M it is a pretty soft underbelly. And as far as the top end - one FF team in the last eight years! That should increase this year, but ...

But one always takes coach speak with a grain of salt - what is she going to say, the SEC is pretty good and the coaches are better than average?!:cool:

The Sagarin ratings had the SEC as the 3rd best conference last year. The Big Ten was 1st and the ACC was 2nd. The final Sagarin ratings for the SEC teams were:

South Carolina - 3
Tennessee - 7
Miss. State - 20
Kentucky - 21
Texas A&M - 32
Arkansas - 42
Georgia - 44
LSU - 50
Missouri - 58
Vanderbilt - 70
Ole Miss - 72
Auburn - 89
Florida - 98
Alabama - 121

Next year. When I looked yesterday, ESPN had the big Stewie and Mo stories plus two other smaller UConn stories on their front page. There are other programs and great players out there worthy of coverage, and ESPN is already guilty of causing UConn fatigue among women's basketball fans as it is.

I don't know How they figure that. But Big 10 was not in the top 3 conferences imo. I would rank them. 1.ACC. 2. SEC. 3.Pac 12 4. Big Ten 5. Big 12

In Today's newslink is the following story:

http://espn.go.com/womens-college-b...ets-sights-winning-one-last-ncaa-championship

Must say it helped me figure out something about Stewie that I was tantalizingly close to figuring out. A good read.

In the end it is about Stewie's being so genuine, humble and rock solid confident. That is a very likeable, if rare, combination in a superbly gifted athlete.
Great link Rocky!!!

Please supply a link or info on how ESPN is causing this fatigue you say we are suffering from. I personally have been fatigued the day after a football game but that was due to a long day / night and a heck of a tailgate. Never had this problem with the woman. :D

Thanks Woof. I'm usually reluctant to post about a Nan link, but I increasingly realize that people don't always check the linked news and I truly felt Voepel had captured something in that article.

Anyone can say their conference is the best. But the AAC has won the last two titles. When was the last time the B1G, ACC, or SEC won one? As for South Carolina, they need to figure out how to not get blown out by a lowly mid-major team from the AAC before setting their sights on title town.

If Nurse has a few games like the one that concluded her summer, there will be plenty of chatter.

True dat. Such a rare person. I often think she's an anachronism, a throwback to a time when integrity and humility were valued attributes.

Or maybe I'm getting old and not remembering things correctly. Or maybe I'm too much of a cynic. At any rate, she's a breath of fresh air, and so is Moriah.
