For all practical purposes, New York could have just skipped the draft entirely.

HA!

OR, a sneaky way to leapfrog everyone else in the Griner Sweepstakes. It would be a sweet payoff for us long-suffering fans. Of course, we'll probably trade the pick for... Sidney Spencer.

There is no more loyal fan than you, TJI. It could be worse, you could be a Cubs fan.

Just remember the glory days of T'Spoon and Wicks....

This is satire, right?

I do wonder how many teams will be intentionally tanking....in subtle fashion or not....in attempts
to get the #1 pick in April 2013.

T'Spoon. Did anyone ever get more mileage out of a single shot than she did? Nice player, but she could not shoot at all and it just seems like the Liberty has never recovered from their very flawed beginning.

I'm thinking they would take Delle Donne in that case.
Seriously? You think they take EDD over Griner because they already have the Aussie kid at center? Gotta disagree. They do a trade. Either trade the Aussie kid and take Griner, or trade down the pick, but if they trade down the pick, they have get a great deal in return.

If Tulsa gets the #1 pick can't see them passing on Griner. There have been stories about Cambage's work ethics and who knows how long she will want to play in the WNBA. If they decided they didn't want Griner, they would trade the pick and pick up one or more All Stars or future All Stars and a high draft pick.

It was just a thought.

No. For sheer joy, being a fan of the Lib or the Comets the first 4 years was I.T. Yes, heartbreak for the NY fans, but we loved our team and they loved us.

Now? pffft.

But "long-suffering"? It hasn't even been two decades.

The door prizes for the lottery teams that don't get BG won't be anything to scoff at either.

Well, no, we're not Cubs fans or Baltimore - really, .500? what does that look like? - fans. But we started high and then collapsed -- on all levels -- not just because we got old, but because the management was incompetent and disrespectful to the degree it felt deliberate.
