Would be a wonderful early birthday present (birthday is Monday...a MAJOR one that is a reminder that I have had more birthdays in the past than I have to look forward to in the future) for the Wolfpack Women to come out and play well enough to beat VaTech in their first game in three weeks. I really don't know what to expect from NC State...but I am thrilled they will be playing again!

This just announced by the NC State athletics department:

Elissa Cunane will not play today for NC State.

Huge loss for NC State. I suppose the Wolfpack will rely on Camille Hobby having a career day.

Coach Moore indicated on pre-game radio show that Cunane probably will not be back with the team this week. She is quarantined at her home in Greensboro.

NC State shot nearly 55% in the half on 17 of 31 from the field, and 9 of 18 from THREE. Leading scorers: Jakia Brown-Turner with 12 points, Kayla Jones 10, Camille Hobby 9 and Kai Crutchfield 8. Brown-Turner nailed three THREEs, and Crutchfield, Jones and Hobby all hit two from long distance.

Virginia Tech shot 42.1% in the half on 16 of 38 from the field, was 8 of 18 from THREE. Cayla King and Aisha Sheppard combined for 23 points, with 12 and 11, respectively. Liz Kitley added 8.

Virginia Tech outrebounded NC State, 20-18.

NC State had 9 assists on 17 baskets; VaTech had 4. Both teams committed 4 turnovers.
