Earlier reports only mentioned Uconn... Recent reports (like Katz) now say Uconn or Louisville. Tons of general fb and acc fans saying Ville would be the better fit and that academics won't come into play. Twitter feeds eating Uconn alive.

If Uconn misses out on this then I guess we wait for the unknown fsu move. Imagine Rutgers playing against Ohio state, msu, Michigan, penn state, Wisconsin, Nebraska and possibly the rose bowl while Uconn's top games are vs Boise, Cinci, USF with great away and home games vs temple, UCF, SMU etc fighting to beat out conf USA (where the buffalo series will actually matter). Take away the sharp objects!

Apparently, going 8-5 a couple years ago didn't make us a national football name.

Shocking.

I would be fine with this as long as they replace unc with us if ville gets Maryland spot. Let cinch take Kansas spot

I hope tongue was planted firmly in cheek. Rutgers will be Northwestern's wipping boy, and they haven't been to the Rose Bowl since the mid 90's. Let's step back from the ledge a bit.

Rutgers has what northwestern doesn't ... Better recruiting grounds. That won't happen. Every NJ and NYC recruit will now want to play for Rutgers now

Maybe a hair above than do right now. Rutgers may have to increase their admissions standards. I don't know that for a fact, but it seems logical.

Academics don't matter to fans or to presidents? The former maybe, the latter maybe only in the case of Nebraska. Louisville ain't no Nebraska...

Indiana has basically the same midwestern recruiting grounds as Ohio State and Michigan. You have to show you can win before "everyone" will want to play for you.

My take on this is that the major football powers are conforming themselves (eventually) into four "super conferences" and when that happens those four conferences will exit the NCAA, who will be powerless to stop it. We can only hope UConn gets a seat at the table.

Academics do mean something whether the talking heads agree or not. Uconn brings similar for sports at worse but there is no comparison with academic standings between the two universities

I am wondering if Louisville is being thrown around just to take any leverage away from uconn in negotiating helping pay the buyout. Just doesn't make sense for acc to want Louisville. Unfortunately what doesn't make sense usually happens

Yes and ND is the parasite tasked with trimming the field. There were six power conferences when ND joined the BE as a partial member. Like a slow moving, flesh eating virus, they fed off their host until there wasn't much left to sustain it, They moved to the ACC and in another decade, there will be four major conferences as another host will be bled dry.

Dumb question does Nd join a football conference at some point?

i guess in 10 years they'll slither over to the B1G, the conference that always made the most sense, and we'll be at this all over again as the ACC gets picked over. Then you'll have your big 4
