Oklahoma played like a high school team, 19-60, 31.7%.
Villy, 35-49, 71.4%. no comparison at all.

.-.
I hope someone asks Dan Shaughnessy about this game...

And I want to know if Villanova has been stealing plays out of Geno's playbook...

Bad for basketball indeed!!!!

Go Big East!!!!

Parity in men's basketball??? Is Villanova bad for the game???

Let's see if Dan S writes about this game...

Go Nova!!! Go Big East!!!!

.-.
Oklahoma should be embarassed with the way they played. Schooled? They got UCONNed.

I was going to watch but by the time I got the right channel, it was already mop up time - where is the competition, how can a team as bad as OK be in the FF? Luckily there was a rerun of a Perry Mason show I don't remember so I am watching intently to see if he can win his case - the suspense is just killing me.

UNC whomping Syracuse would make my day. We couldn't even make sarcastic jokes so much as we could praise the Heels for doing the Lord's work. They like Uconn enough for various wins over Duke and Kentucky.

.-.
"Got UConned" Hopefully that quote, comment gets traction. Nothing for UConn in the press/media could be better

Just checked - Villanova shot 71.4 %!!! Is Sir Charles correct that the men don't play any defense any more?

And the frightening thing is this isn't Villanova's best shooting percentage in a FF - they shot 76.6% in the NC game in 1985.

I hope you aren't suffering through having to watch it just to keep us updated.

Absolutely not. Just check once in a while.

Now that Cuse have lost, I get to rib my brother-in-law and his wife unmercilessly. They are Syracuse grads.

I too was thinking about whether that game was "bad for basketball." LOL!

It got ugly in the second half. Oklahoma was a legit team with a UNANIMOUS All-American. So, kudos to Villanova. The Wildcats shot lights out. I recall some UConn games when we outshot the other team by about 40 percentage points for a half and even occasionally for a game. Oklahoma shot a mediocre--but not abysmal--32%. Villanova shot an insane 72%.

The 1985 shooting mark was done against a dominant Patrick Ewing-led Georgetown team. Not only was that a championship shooting record, it was the all-time shooting record for ANY game. I believe it may have been eclipsed recently, but shooting at that level in a championship game is beyond clutch. The difference between tonight's game and the 1985 game is the shot clock. There was no shot clock in 1985, so Villanova milked the clock on almost every possession and took very few shots. But most of them were high-percentage shots, and practically all of them went in. Tonight's game was like watching Golden State warm up.

As long as no team shoots an insanely high percentage in the women's tourney, I like our chances. I hope our defense is flawless and keeps the opponent under 32%. The heck with TV ratings. :)
