Figured I would share this video about the Civil ConFLiCT, nothing ground breaking, but always nice to see well made content about the football program. I recommend checking out his other videos as well, solid quality with a conference realignment focus (thus often talking about UConn).

People of good will may agree to disagree. Besides, there are reasons that UConn is not in the B12 now that will never go away. There are only three Members in the B12 located north of the Mason Dixon Line. And UConn is located in staunchly Yankee territory whereas two of the three are in what were border states. The third was not a state in 1865. That animus still exists.

I am of the opinion that it impossible to start a new rivalry in college football, in these modern times.

Unless very unique circumstances exist ---- like two already-rival schools that started new football programs and thus naturally gravitate toward a rivalry in the flagship college sport ---- then it's pointless to chase a rivalry that didn't already exist since WW2. I see now why everyone makes fun of the civil conflict. i just learned about it in recent years and literaly LOL'd when i read about the circumstances surrounding its creation and ultimate non-acknowledgement by UCF and subsequent demise.

I shared the video because I felt it did not needlessly mock what happened and more just objectively broke down what happened. I thought there was some half decent stuff about rivalry creation and what worked and did not work with Diaco's approach. Not to mention the pretty interesting point about a B12 reunion and if that would mean anything to UCF. Did not mean to bring back poor memories for anyone, I enjoy nearly any UConn football content that is not punching down and figured some others would as well.

No attack as I see you are fairly new here..... But many of us have cleansed our minds of Diaco and do not need a refresh. That or the beating of a dead horse and the nightmares it produced. To be kind I did watch until Diaco came into the picture. My bad for clicking on anything to do with the topic, I blame a good IPA ; )

I'm not wasting my time on these freaking boards for nothing. UConn Football is on the right path and programs like UCF, Cincy, and Houston will only hope to be our rival. Notice, only 1 of the 4 programs in this post participated in and won a bowl game this year.
