This Saturday evening (Sunday Mat as well), The Caramoor Festival in Katonah NY is opening with "She Loves Me," perhaps the most literate and stunningly musical of all Broadway shows.
These qualities most likely prevented it from being a mega-hit corrected immediately by the production team in the next offering by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (which just happened to be Fiddler on the Roof).
Cast to the nines with a 99-pound version of Barbara Cook, Daniel Massey and Barbara Baxley the original 1962 version was theatrical perfection. I saw it 26 times.
Not my usual style to recommend, but for a quite summer weekend, this is a don't miss.
