If that is really true about AD then he wont last long in the NBA. 82 games is a LOOONG season if you don't love basketball. Forget the $ for a second, there are some kids that like being kids. AD is a young guy and maybe isn't ready emotionally or mentally for that grind.

i wouldn't go as far as to say AD coming was a bad thing but i think his prescence really stunted the growth of AO and Olander. in fact, one could even argue that AO and Olander played better last year than this.

I agree, i've used this analogy before but Drummond is the kid in rec league basketball whose parents forced him to play the game that doesnt exactly want to be here. I'm sure everyone has told him that he is an athletic freak and needs to play basketball but who knows if thats really what he wants to do.

i'd say it was very surprising how TO looked so good in the beginning of the season like the most improved player to basically being a shell of his former self as the season went on.

Im sorry but you guys are all crazy! AD has nothing to do with AO blowing layups, fumbling the ball, throwing up airballs, not boxing out and not playing with confidence. ALL were issues long before AD showed up. AO is a junior for christ sakes! TO played well early in the season because he was going up against less athletic players with not much size. the minute he faces size and athleticsm he caves in. just look at how his brother owned him earlier in the season. If AO had played well AD wouldnt have been on the court. i remember AD coming off the bench early in the season while AO started at center and he still stunk up the place. AO problem is not AD. AO problem is AO.

It's not super surprising when you look at it in the context of:

- At the beginning of the year we were playing low-major teams with unathletic frontcourts, where Tyler was equally athletic and more skilled than those teams

- At the end of the year we played high-major competitions where Tyler just got outclassed athletically in the post

i agree and i would attribute that to a lack of confidence which is manifested by a lack of playing time and little mistakes adding up

of the many issues with this team, i think one was a lack of an inside game on offense. AD was limited to just dunks and put backs, AO's inside game was wildly inconsistent (both AD and AO have no touch around the rim), and Olander's game with his back to the basket was non-existent. This put all he pressure on Bazz, JL, and Boat to do all the scoring.

I know the competition went up but imo Tyler was never the same after the Fairfield game with his brother mashing on him and then stuffing him on the other end. It just seemed like after that he was very reluctant to even look at the basket and became just a high-low passer. As far as the original point about Drummond not coming here being better for the team, I kind of agree. The blame doesn't fall on him but him being here pretty much created the AO drama and I think Roscoe's time in the early going was effected as well because I think he's best suited for the 4 and there was a numbers crunch all season up front behind Drummond.

i guess we are just arguing opinions here but look at AO in the F4 w/ no AD and then look at him this season with AD in the picture. I think its tough to say that AD has no effect on AO this season. its not an excuse for AO but i think having AD here was one of the many variables that contributed to AO's struggles

AD did not have a negative impact on AO's play. AO's play was set in motion in the offseason and his attitude coming into the year. You can argue that if AD wasn't here, then AO would have had more of an opportunity to work through his poor play and turn it around with increased playing time (since we would have been so thin on the frontline). But the poor play of AO is completely on AO.

Nonsense.
If AD wasn't here, AO would never had played less than 35 a game, absent foul trouble.

JC had the liberty of giving AO the hook because he had AD.

Come on man, surely you don't disagree.

Isn't that exactly what I said? I said that AD did not impact the actual play of AO. AO's play was a because of AO himself. However, AD did result in AO getting less time to work through his struggles. I think we are in agreement here.

So if AD and AO leave TO will be our latex salesman.

In that case a very long season for the Huskies

I caught the same interview, Goodman also said (which I think is more troubling) was Drummond smiling after the game laughing, while AO was joking around laughing it up in the locker room. Said that Bazz was heated, saying he seemed like the only one who gave a damn about the result after game

That my friends is why we had a horrible year

That doesn't surprise me, given the relative level of engagement each of those 3 has shown on the court (Bazz being one who looks like he gives a d*mn out there).

I don't buy a word of it. After the game? If you were bounced from the first round what would you be like? Well you wouldn't necessarily be bonding with your team mates. Everyone handles losing differently. He wasn't upset enough? He was crying in the corner?

Yeah, cause after getting bounced from the NCAA Tournament through one of their worst played games of the season is the perfect time to judge a team's chemistry.

Not necessarily, I played in 2 bowl games, one in 2000 beating Fresno St w/ David Carr, and the other losing to Va Tech. After our loss to Va Tech, sure there was a smile here or there reminiscing on the season, but by NO means was there jokes being made and outright laughing only minutes from having our season ended. It would be pure disrespect to your fellow brothers.

Are you guys crazy? Did any of you watch this season and want to tell me this team had great chemistry? It wasnt just the first game of the NCAA tournament, the whole season this teams chemistry was light years away from what it was with kemba

I wrote this last night too. We will all excited, but when we figured out he couldn't score from beyond 2 feet it became a liability.

I can honestly say this team would have gone at least as far without him.

AD is such a young and highly impressionable kid. It's not surprising that he might pick up on and be confused by questionable vibes from the wrong guy. We sure had enough prima donna behavior on our roster this year to serve as negative vibery. He may not have the highest motor but I think he loves basketball. I think he was slammed in the face by how tough it is to perform in this league. He was outperformed by most talented big guys all season. A higher motor would have increased his performance. Another year of experience will as well. If he ever gets hungry enough to swallow what the coaches are feeding him, he will grow into a dominant beast.

You are 100% correct about TO. His brother embarrassed him and he was never the same after that game. I hope for regained confidence and further improvement from him.
