I am trying to remember the last time UConn was involved with a player that set a date and announced their verbal.

Was it Chiney?

I try to not get involved in the recruiting for UConn or any school until after they verbal. I can only imagine what the Louisville and Tennessee fans are going through the last few days and now 10 minutes to go.
Hoping Russell is happy wherever she goes.

DOGGY: I don't know the answer to your question , but I can comment on you post.
You must be a total sweetheart and have god-like compassion and energy to able to be wishing Russell happiness wherever she goes. ANd, if so, that is clearly a GOOD thing. I simply dont have that much energy, and the limited energy I have to invest in this particular realm compels me to hope UCONN is happy with whatever recruiting outcomes occur, first and foremost....and leaves Russell, sans UCONN, to fend for herself.
Also in contrast , much of the additional energy I have for this realm IS invested/"involved" in following the recruiting process (for "Our Girls") from the GET GO, as soon as we signal interest in a particular kid. I happen to love that stuff and try to read the tea leaves (with little or no success) to try to figger out what sort of team we'll be fielding on down the road. Perhaps I stand alone (nothing new to me) with this passion .
But I don't mind saying that when we signed this current group of frosh, I considered asking whatever Power is "upstairs" to let me hang around for their full four years. No joke. Didn't do it, only bec I figger that Power might also have some limitations on what messages merit serious consideration, so I try not to check in there too often....and save my implorations for protecting our military and our cops who risk their lives for us.....and for guiding friends and family thru life-threatening challenges.
Regarding the magic you seem to invest in "verbals," I don't share that. (Doesn't make you a bad person.....feel pretty solid that it doesn't make me a bad one either.....just a difference in how we assess these particular things.) Lots of programs have lost some very important "verbals" at some VERY crucial times. So, verbal, schmerbal, I say. Show up....stick around for more than two days......and you'll merit more than a "YKW" in my book.

Doggy, it was Stokes. She committed on, I believe, 11/4/10. We had another recruit make their selection on 9/21/10, but Sara Hammond chose Louisville.

I said about the same thing you did when we received verbals from these latest 3 girls Winlots. Just let me, and all 3 girls be healthy at least until they graduate. I wonder how many National Championships they and the rest will bring us. I am not adding pressure to the girls because I think that is what they expect also. I mean, even Geno has talked about them doing it, and I don't think I have ever heard him talk about a team so positively.

As for future recruits... I don't worry too much because I know Geno and CD will have us competitive, and if we can compete, well the tiebreaker is Coach Geno Auriemma !
GO UCONN GO !

Yep, that fits Doggy to a "T". I've known him for decads. He is sweetypie.

MKIE: an outloud chuckle here. Am sure he's quite a fine and solid guy but seems about as curmudgeonly as I am.....probably just as nice and considerate underneath it all. The Kindly Curmudgeon (might have that on my tombstone)
