81-45 USA now after 3 periods. Prince now with 11 pts on 5-8 shooting, and Elissa Cunane with 6 pts on 3-10 shooting, but leading the team with 7 rebounds. The team as a whole is shooting better in this game (34 for 67 50.7%), and has 28 assists to just 4 turnovers....

United States beats Venezuela 102-53. Sedona Prince exploded in the 2nd half to lead the team with 19 points on 8-14 shooting in 22:14 minutes of play. She added 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Rhyne Howard scored 17 pts on 6-12 shooting in 21:49 minutes, and added 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Aliyah Boston had the highest efficiency with 15 pts on 6-6 shooting in 15:58 minutes, with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. Elissa Cunane added 11 pts on 5-12 shooting in 22:10 minutes, with 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block....

On Game day 5 tomorrow, Canada plays Colombia at 3:10 pm in Group A, and the USA plays Argentina at 9:10 pm in Group B. I guess since Brazil opened the tournament for Group A that they are done with 4 games, and they trail Canada in the standings for Group A unless Canada loses to Colombia which is very doubtful.

Tomorrow's games concludes the Group Phase of the tournament. Then Thursday starts the single elimination bracket between the two groups. Should USA end up the #1 team in Group B, they would open the bracket playing the 4th team in Group A.......

Thanks for this. I've watched all the USA games either live or on replay. Aliyah and Destanni are playing very well and look to be leaders on the court.

Not really my point - full credit to them for executing, but of course they know and run their plays well, since it's their own coach's. Makes it easier to lead. I would expect no less, just not surprising, all things considered.
Agreed. Nothing against Denstanni, but in my opinion the only reason she made the team was to assist with executing Dawn's game plan. They don't have much time to prepare. Having a PG who understands the coach allows Dawn to expand the playbook.

Total coincidence. Can't have anything to do with who the coach is.
I did not consider that and you are correct - it makes sense that they know what is going on. Aliyah is a natural leader so that really is no surprise. Destanni is very quiet and leads more by example but she has been directing traffic and has played very well.

Generally ANY player that's picked for these "all-star" invitational tournament teams like national team play, are picked based on whether or not they can execute the coaching staff's game plan.

Henderson averaged close to the same mpg off the bench as starters Burton and Miller, reserve Berger and substantially less than reserve Owusu, but averaged better ppg, apg, 3-pt FG%, and in efficiency. I think she proved her value to the team without question....

Henderson shot 40% from three, lead the SEC in assists and in the Final Four had a personal scoring run at the end of the game to put her team ahead.

I get she had an off night or two and turned it over too much but she absolutely is good enough to be there.
