71-69.

KY now 15-4, 4-4 in SEC. Vanderbilt is 15-5, 4-3 in SEC.

At least both teams scored 60+ points. Did it go to overtime??
Yes the two last games to finish off the SEC slate both took an extra five minutes to surpass 120 points!
In regulation last night the combined totals for SEC games:
SC v Ole Miss - 143
Vandy v KY - 140
FL v Ark - 118 - OT added 19 to that to make the final 137
TN v MsSt - 116 - OT added 12 to that to make the final 128
A&M v Ala - 115
Missouri v LSU - 98
Abu v UGA - 93

So in 28 quarters in the seven games the total scored by both teams was 823 points
That breaks out to an average of 118 points per game or 59 points per team or just under 15 points per quarter.

Drop out the two scoring fests where the teams averaged 71 points per game and just under 18 points per quarter and no team scored less than 62 points and you get:
540 points in 5 games for an average of 108 ppg and 54 points per team and 13.5 points per quarter.

NB - These games involved 6 ranked teams and a seventh that was ranked two weeks ago.

As a contrast - Uconn has played 76 quarters to date - 56 of those they have scored over 20 points (and 6 times 30 or more.) of the 20 quarters under 20 points they break down as: 3 @ 19, 10 @18, 2@17, 3@ 15, and 1 @14. A total of 4 quarters at 15 or less, and 6 quarters scoring less than 18 points.
In the 56 quarters played by SEC teams last night there were 31 quarters at or below 15, 38 total below 18, 11 quarters scoring 18-19 points and 7 quarters that reached 20.
68% below 18 points v Uconn 8%
13% above 20 v Uconn 74%
Uconn while playing against some weak teams has overall played the toughest schedule almost half of their games have been against teams that would rank in the top half of the SEC.
Fun with numbers.

Kentucky is ranked # 12 in both the AP & USA today Coach's polls. While they are good, their not considered "elite".
Because of their vulnerability to succumb to the "hustle & flow" of an unranked Vanderbilt team, Kentucky can not be seriously considered a serious contender to win the national championship this year.

If they can't beat Vandy, how are they going to get by UConn, Baylor, ND or South Carolina? All of these teams are much better than Vandy, and would be more resistant to defeat. You're going to have to beat at least two of these four, if you have any aspirations of winning it all.

Before they can begin to worry about these four, they'd also have to get by Louisville, Maryland, Texas and Ohio State. I'm not sure Kentucky can best any of these four.

Note that this game was in Lexington. As with MSU over TN, this is a big win for Vandy, a young team trying to rebound from last year's down season.

MATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I wouldn't be surprised if more than half of these ranked SEC teams didn't make it to the sweet 16 even though they are certainly tanking up a a lot of spots in the Top 25.

Vandy young? Might want to check their roster again. I think Kentucky only has 8-9 players total including 3 freshmen. With the desertion of a couple of upperclassmen it's no wonder they are struggling.

Actually, I am getting tired of seeing Kentucky get a good rating every year, make it to the elite-eight, and get creamed. I would like to see some new blood like Vandy get there. I could say the same for Louisville too(but I won't).

OK, not so young. Doesn't change the fact that this was a big win for them, on the road, as they try to rebound from last year.
