We stay with them early and weather the storm. We compete hard all game. “Who are these guys??!” We force turnovers. Special teams will be the difference and here’s the big caveat: Can our kicking game deliver when it counts without McFadden. Can we flip the field on punts and limit returns.

A lot of us were hyped about the hiring of Mora. From what we have seen thus far it seems as if changing the culture of UConn football was the most pressing and most focused on issue in the off-season. With that being said I think we need to go into this game being optimistic. New players, new coaches, new season, hopefully new results.

Signs of life, plausibly in it into the second half (within a couple of scores), Utah State with 10 points in the fourth quarter against a team battling trying to do too much to make a big play; to get the score closer to the expected margin (but not enough to cover).

One of the most exciting things about this game is knowing that everyone is in the dark about our team. Speculation in the national media is based on nothing but last year. We have replaced most positions of weakness, we are good at the skill positions and our O line has been bolstered. Combine that with competent coaching and a very good OC and we just may be much, much better. Of course, that’s a lot to hope for, but the genuine possibility is exciting.

I’ll go out on a limb and say if Wyoming (a team UConn had chances to beat last year) can hold Utah State to 17 points and can roll up 44 on their defense on the road, then UConn has a chance in this game. Jackson Mitchell has to take charge though. Uconn 28 - 24
