If Cal doesn't win 1 of these 2 games coming up, they could be a serious threat to go winless this season in conference.

The battle for the basement! As we played Cal, I have to root for them but either way, I will not be watching this game...

The battle for the basement!

Utah's win @ Colorado really gave them a leg up on avoiding the cellar. Right now it's Cal and USC battling for #11.

Provo is struggling mightily. She's hurting Utah a lot more than she's helping.

I gotta continue giving props to Brynna Maxwell. She's way under the radar but she's one of the better Fr. in the Pac 12 this year. She can flat out shoot the ball.

Cal jumped out to an early lead. They shoulda been up by more. Between O boards and steals they had so many extra possessions, but kept missing shots. Had 3 missed layups in 1 sequence. Been back and forth, now tied at 24.

This is the screaming little kids game for Cal.

Doh, an early game, well in that case as long as no one tells my team to come into my office, I will put the game on my iPad on mute...

29-28 Cal at halftime. Kind of sloppy game. Anastasieska has 12 for the Bears, Maxwell 9 for the Utes.

The action is heating up a bit. Cal 42-39 midway thru Q3. Brown getting going now.

Cal was up by 5, but Utah goes up 48-46 at the end of Q3. Maxwell has 19 on 7-9 shooting.

Anastasieska was scoreless in Q3, but 8 points lightning fast to start Q4, now has 20.

Maxwell w/ a career high 25 on 10-13 shooting.

60-59 Utah, about 5 minutes left.

Jaelyn Brown just fouled out for Cal. Is she their only significant returner from last year's team? Tough senior year for her.

Hmm...maybe that whole Charmin Smith is a big upgrade over Lindsay Gottlieb thing was a bit premature. Cal about to fall to 0-7 in conference, with home losses to Washington, Washington St. and Utah. Those are the kind of games you have to win.

C.J. West too, but she's out currently on concussion protocol. I see Mi'cole Cayton on the roster but I don't think she's been playing.

They're just undermanned. It's not even fair to assess coaching ability on this basis. Cal is roughly in the same position as Washington two years ago. Roster totally decimated by graduation/transfer plus a coaching change.

Clearly they are in rebuild mode, but Utah isn't close to the same team as last year, and Washington is a team with major deficiencies.

I'm still just bamboozled how Cal looked decent in OOC but has just fallen apart as soon as they got into conference play.

71-62 final. Utah on a 3 game winning streak, but that should come to an end Sunday at Maples.

Well, unfortunately, playing UConn close is not indicative of much this year. Memphis also played them close. The win over Arkansas was an upset, but let's face it, Arkansas lives and dies on streaky shooting. They just lost to Georgia at home last night, and they have yet to beat anyone better than Vanderbilt.

ESPN is showing the score 73-61. Is it that hard to get it right?

Plus a close loss to Kentucky, who is also probably fairly overrated.

But Cal isn't just losing games in conference, they are getting destroyed. Losses by 21, 33, 37 and 50 sprinkled in with a few closer games.

Looking at the box score, looks like they were missing CJ West this game? Did they comment on her status?

Concussion protocol. I can't remember if it happened in the last game or if she's been out for a few now.

Curious about Ola Makurat's numbers. Seems they have been steadily going down. Just 3 minutes in this game.

Provo looks like she shouldn't be playing, I don't know why Makurat has been benched.
