I was perplexed about this too but I think it is pretty common to overvalue an upset in the first couple of weeks of the season. Pollsters tend to believe the narrative of "X is better than we expected because they upset a great team" versus a more middling narrative of "X beat an improperly ranked team".Baylor gets rewarded for getting by Duke overseas and crushing Lindenwood(?) by 13 at home. I just don't understand why such a big leap so early in the season.
Agreed. The same question could have been asked about USC with their win over NC State as their only other game was against New Mexico State. It's week 1. Polls are going to be wonky for a little while.I was perplexed about this too but I think it is pretty common to overvalue an upset in the first couple of weeks of the season.
