USC To Hire Cincinnati AD Mike Bohn

I hope they bring back Cronin for AD. Miss that angry leprechaun.

They'll get a good guy/gal. Renovated fball and bball venues, and a nice city to live in. The heavy lifting is done there.

Bohn was hired to get them into a P5 conference after he navigated Colorado from the B12 to P12. Obviously he didn't do that but turned out to be a very good AD. Made a great football hire (top 25 2 yrs in a row), a baseball hire (took them to CWS), got a renovated bball arena and hired a new bball coach (TBD on how that turns out). Easy to see why USC wanted him (although I don't think his hiring record at Colorado was stellar). Would be interesting to see if Cincinnati gives Tom Jurich a call.

I don’t think anyone will call Jurich just yet but you never know.

I always assumed Jurich was a southern guy with an SEC mentality. Had no idea he was from California, went to college in Arizona and got his first big job at Colorado St. Maybe he’s a little less slimy than I thought. Might just be really smart and a good salesman.

Hiring a guy with zero California background, experience, and likely limited connections would be both different and massively risky, but USC’s new AD will hire a new coach. Think he knows Luke Fickell?

He was AD @ San Diego State and was AD @ Colorado for the transition from Big12 to the PAC10>PAC12.

He'll be fine. The question is who can he lure to the P12 that won't be underwhelming. Guys aren't going to be falling over themselves to go there. Usc has entered Tennessee land as far as coaching pedigree is concerned except for it does not have the cache of the SEC. That will be tough, and i suspect that holdup in his hire was over the length and dollar commitment of his contract. Smart move.

Yup, known facts. On the other hand, one of Bohn’s most recognized and successful hires has lived in Ohio all but a year or so of his life. In lies the referenced potential risk for both guys if Bohn actually considers hiring Fickell.
