It's all about the $$.
Has the new commissioner done anything yet? Been almost a year. Seems to be invisible. The Pac-12 has been horribly mismanaged by an overpaid Pac-12 "commissioner" who basically failed to take advantage of TV opportunities (see the Pac-12 Network that no one can watch) while building a headquarters in one of the most expensive real estate locations, ever (San Francisco). I don't think it's a good move, but I certainly understand the thinking.
For the record, I think it would be a far better idea to make the Pac-12 work better, or improve their financial situation, than it is to jump to another conference. I hate this idea. And, I preferred the Pac-10 to the Pac-12. Hopefully, this is a bargaining maneuver and no move takes place. (Though, I don't even like the idea that the L.A. schools are throwing their weight around the conference... unless it is to jar the commissioner to fix the problems left over from the former guy)Has the new commissioner done anything yet? Been almost a year. Seems to be invisible.
I don't love the LA schools, but this would be terrible for the Pac. I can't even find words for how much I've hated the conference realignment that's been going on for however many years now.
Problem is the ACC members signed a grant of rights agreement through 2036.I just saw a tweet that it's looking like the SEC/B1G will become two super leagues with 20ish teams each. They will split the money and everyone else will be out in the FBS cold.
I assume ND, UNC, Oklahoma State, Virginia, and Oregon will join the Big Ten.
I think the SEC will poach Clemson, Miami, FSU, Baylor, and maybe Texas Tech?
No on the SEC picks.I just saw a tweet that it's looking like the SEC/B1G will become two super leagues with 20ish teams each. They will split the money and everyone else will be out in the FBS cold.

Smart move by the ACC. They did this after Maryland bolted for the Big 10.Problem is the ACC members signed a grant of rights agreement through 2036.
What we hear people talking about Gonzaga joining the Big East so…The Big 10, really? This conference realignment thing is getting out of hand. Two California schools in the Big 10?
What’s next, Hawaii joining the ACC?
I had the same thought when West Virginia joined the B12, like how in the world was the school planning to finance softball, baseball, tennis, etc. I know football drives the train but it still gets old having to constantly haul every other program across the country each week.I see this having no effect on WBB - or any sport other than football and maybe mbb.
Gonna be expensive on those baseball, softball, etc. road trips. Oh well, football writes the checks in the Big/SEC
Well, to the extent the ACC gets raided, UConn is likely to be backfill.Continuation of the now inevitable process of major conference realignment to result in 1? 2? or 3? Super Conferences. NIL is also a growing factor in the acceleration of these decisions. Through all of this UConn remains a perennial bridesmaid to the Power conferences…..
The Big Ten generates close to $1 billion in revenue from TV, tickets & merchandise, and that number will only grow with USC & UCLA added to the conference. I think they will find a way to pay for airfare….I see this having no effect on WBB - or any sport other than football and maybe mbb.

For what it’s worth Connecticut does an extended baseball road trip to California every year.I see this having no effect on WBB - or any sport other than football and maybe mbb.

Oh yeah, they CAN pay for it . How’s UCLA’s hockey team? How’s Minnesota’s synchronized swimming team? The Big Ten generates close to $1 billion in revenue from TV, tickets & merchandise, and that number will only grow with USC & UCLA added to the conference. I think they will find a way to pay for airfare….
There was a big article in our local paper (interview) based on one year in office. I'm sure it wasn't actually done by our local folks, so perhaps you can pick it up on line.Has the new commissioner done anything yet? Been almost a year. Seems to be invisible.

USC doesn't care, they don't play softball. Just for a laugh.I know I'm in the minority and clearly showing my age but I don't care for the conferences that span the entire country. UCLA and USC are great schools academically but how does it make sense for them to be in the B10? Money of course but do the universities want to fly the softball programs to Piscataway and College Park? The PAC network is a problem but the presidents of the schools should hold the commissioner more accountable.
Mind you I am also a SEC fan who hates Mizzou in the league and likely will Texas. I say we trade Mizzou for OK and keep it at 14 teams. I just miss the old days.
To be clear. It is my understanding that USC & UCLA jointly approached the Big 10, not the other way around. Obviously, they can see the writing on the wall. Of course, the Big 10 could always say “No!”Oh yeah, they CAN pay for it . How’s UCLA’s hockey team? How’s Minnesota’s synchronized swimming team?
Big 10 is buying a whole bunch’a TV SETS - but do those TV sets in Cali ever turn to college sports.
Yeah, I’m throwing a lot of snot out there but the Bigger will generate a lotta’ dollars
LOL. Thanks for the clarification. I think you understand the gist of what I'm trying to say. .USC doesn't care, they don't play softball. Just for a laugh.
That said, I 100% agree with you.
