If you enjoy women's soccer this is a game for the ages. A sellout crowd of
over 88,000 Brits at Wembley Stadium in London. USA is currently ranked
# 1 in the world and England won the FIBA European Championship this
past summer. This game is a preview of next year's WOMEN'S SOCCER
WORLD CUP. Technically this is a " friendly" match... but don't believe that.
Some live streams may start at 2 :30 PM with a preview show ( well worth
the viewing, IMO). The game is on FOX TV at 3:00 PM EST and at noon,
PST. Enjoy. Watch Sue Bird's buddy, Megan, on the USA's left wing =
that's "offense" for you non-soccer fans. ENJOY. Z

I don't watch a lot of soccer/football games, so please excuse my ignorance.

Why are soccer games referred to as "friendly"?

Unfortunately for England their Captain Leah Williamson (Arsenal) is out for this game. Ellen White and Jill Scott have both retired since the Euros.

USA will be missing O'Hara, Dahlkamper, Davidson on defense. Macario and S. Mewis in midfield. And Pugh, Morgan, Williams at forward.

So maybe not a true representation of what we'll see (maybe) in World Cup.

Crystal Dunn does come back from pregnancy.

USA plays Spain on 10/11.

A game that is not part of any competition. i.e. League games (NWSL, Women's Super League), World Cup, World Cup qualifying, Euro's, CONFACAF matches, etc. that count for something.

That would include preseason games between clubs.

Also missing Press, Heath and Ertz. Nor sure of their status relating to possibly being on the World Cup roster.

These upcoming matches against the very best competition are always important but probably even more important this year as we are transitioning to a younger team in need of being tested. Loads of talent but recent matches seems to show that work is needed to create a winning team.

England completely outclassing US early on

1-0 England at 10' mark. Vertical passing of England and pace totally disrupting the US team

England has a great team. The U. S. has a load of great players and a little under a year to meld them into a great team. I hope Ertz returns. Some of England’s advances were too easy. I’m optimistic that we will be a tough out next summer.

US playing Spain. Spain takes a 1-0 lead off a set play at end of 1st half. And Spain does not have the physicality of the US like England

Down 2-0 after 80'. US reverting to bully ball. Spain the better on ball team and more disciplined side.

Granted that wasn't USA A1 team, but it wasn't Spain's A1 team either.

Still 9 months away from the Women's World Cup. So time to get USA's team together/healthy. They are playing Germany a couple time in November. I'm sure they will have some more friendlies, cups before next summer to figure out the team and get it working together.

They will be better and ready for the WC but U.S. fans need to be realistic about the current state of Women’s Soccer. European teams have finally invested on the women side with great success. The days of U.S. dominance is over. This WC will be highly competitive.
