USA U23 Women Warm Up With Scrimmage Victory Over Australia

The USA U23 Women’s National Team got its first taste of international competition with a friendly game against Australia on Aug. 10 that saw the Americans record a 78-63 victory at Katayanagi Arena in Tokyo.

Looking at the box score I see that Durr, Mitchell and Inoescu combined to take almost half of the USA's shots (32 of 67), yet combined for 5 assists. Nobody can accuse them of being pass-first guards.

Well, Ionescu had 4 triple doubles her freshmen year. She must've been passing the ball a little bit. Averaged 5.5 assists per game. Not too bad, especially considering she really isn't Oregon's PG, Maite Cazorla is.

Ionescu is in fact a very complete player. Although not as talented, she seems to me (I watched all of her games last year) to have some of the qualities/intangibles that DT has. I'd add that I believe that Ionescu is the only sophomore-to-be on the team, and she did shoot 5/9.
