Signs you sill have a ways to go to grow the sport:

When the points scored by one team exceeds the attendance.

Have to wonder what's up with Brazil having a record of o wins and 4 losses. I would think they would send a strong team to prepare for the 2016 Olympics. While the players on their U17 would still be young by 2016 it would seem some could be role players.

Even a lineup of Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, Tina Charles, Britt Hunter, and Kaleena Lewis could not score 10,167 in a game. :)

Australia, at 2–2, took on undefeated Japan. The same Japanese team which beat the Nethelands by 20, which in turn had defeated Australia. Of course, Australia mauled the undrefeated team, beating them 100–66.

We face Australia next.

Brazil lost to Australia, no embarrassment there, as they aren't ranked # 2. (The oddity is Australia loosing to 6th ranked Spain and the Netherlands who aren't listed in the top 73. Holy Smoke! Maybe that shows what being a host can do.)

Brazil also lost to Japan, who are ranked # 18, but Japan seems to have its ast together this week, having gone undefeated until playing the recently awakened Australia.

Brazil lost to Spain, which on paper makes sense, with Spain at # 6 and Brazil at # 7, but the 37 point margin belies those rankings.

Brazil also lost to the Netherlands, an unranked team but maybe the pride of playing at home gave the Dutch an edge.

I wondered if maybe the some of the best U17 players were moved to the U18 team, making that the team for the next Olympics. The U18 team gets to stay together for the U19 World's next year, while the U17 team is a little lost - if you can crack the U19 team, which will be tough, your USA career may be over.

Weren't they talking about the 2012 Brazilian national team being a 'changing of the guard' situation with a number of young first time Olympians? So probably there aren't all that many openings on the next Olympic team - same situation with the Chinese?
