Cheryl Reeve and coaches preparation for the team: simplify and emphasize defense. It seems to be working quickly (BTW, three UConn alums in the starting lineup):

Is Steve Kerr experimenting too much and ends up complicating things for his loaded team? Or, is the team too overconfident and believe they can simply flip the switch and everything will be fine?

Talk about gelling quickly. Remember Rio?

Since Team USA debuted its women’s basketball team at the 1976 Olympics, only 10 players have won a national championship and an Olympic Gold medal playing under their college coach.

Seven of those were former UConn women’s basketball greats — all coached by Geno Auriemma.

Sue Bird, Swin Cash, Tina Charles, Asjha Jones, Maya Moore, Diana Taurasi & Breanna Stewart: All coached by Geno Auriemma at UConn. Throughout their individual careers in Storrs, they helped the Huskies win 10 (2000, 2002, 2003 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016) of the program’s 11 national championships.

Bird, Cash, Charles, Jones, Moore and Taurasi played under Auriemma for Team USA at the 2012 London Olympics and won gold. And in 2016, Bird, Charles, Moore, Taurasi and Stewart played for Team USA under Auriemma and again won gold.

Men's team: in the game against Serbia, they looked better but they also had a lopsided win against them in the pre-Olympic game. It's an improvement....and KD made sure of it.

Let's be fair. The US mens team has much tougher competition. They looked pretty "gelled" today, though.

The men were on fire today against a solid Serbia team that featured Jokic.

Interesting thoughts.....I don't know which other country has 7 NBA champions on its roster, not to mention Olympic gold medalists.....

Competition is all relative in terms of each team's resources. By far, the US team is way ahead.
