Thanks for another great analysis, Sensei! These are so helpful to me just as a foundation for thinking about the game. A few observations: I think Kennedy Smith is out with an injury. The starter is Kayleigh Heckel, a really good freshman out of Long Island Lutheran HS. Since she seems to be the PG, I would measure her against Kaitlyn and KK, and I think she’ll struggle against them. This means I’d also expect Talia to matchup mostly against Ash which should be more or less interesting, a seasoned veteran against a rising sophomore. I think Ash’s D is better than Talia’s O. Also, I’m sure Ash’s conditioning is significantly better. I understand your reasoning about Marshal vs Ice/Jana. She’s a seasoned veteran playing as well as she ever has. She’s got good size and quickness. This should be an excellent challenge for Ice and Jana. It’s hard to know what to say about Kiki vs Sarah, and your conclusion may be the best one can do in advance. Kiki is playing well, but mainly against weaker opponents. She did poorly against ND, but Sarah didn’t do much better. As a general rule, I’d reduce all of USC’s stats by ~20% to account for the weak schedule and the propensity of playing the stars longer into the 4th quarter. So, maybe, just maybe, Sarah has a slight statistical edge. Plus, Kiki’s breakout season was playing next to Brink and she doesn’t have that advantage this season. But still, this is another case of a seasoned veteran vs a freshman and that has to count for something.
