Could this be option 4 if we whiff on all the other big men? Reclassify for this year

I don't think so, I think he's one of our top options for 2021. If we get one center in 2020, say Cardwell, then we'll want another center in 2021 to replace Carlton and Whaley. You want three centers on a roster and we'd then have Cardwell-Etienne-Springs, with Springs also a 4.

Hearing Danny talk about Springs confirmed my view on why we jumped on him. Late bloomer, still growing and could hit 6'11. I'm sold on the notion that Hurley saw him as a swing 5-4 who could play either position. Those guys are so useful for roster flexibility. Etienne looks like a pure 5 to me.

Springs isn’t a center, he played PF in both high school and AAU, unless they are planning on converting him to one which is possible because there are reports he has grown some.

The roster isn't well spaced, with Carlton and Whaley and then a gap. I don't think they want to recruit more than one center per year, which means Springs will need to fill in a bit to provide depth. It's good for him, it builds versatility and will help his career.
