Nothing like getting that phone call............ My daughter is a grad assistant for the Women's basketball team. They have been practicing for 2-3 weeks. They just had a player test positive. I couldn't really stay on the phone with her, but of course the entire coaching staff has to be tested. I think it's the wing group that has to be tested and quarantine. She also said they would be doing the rapid testing now.

Nothing like a nervous mother now!

My grandkids (5 and 7) apparently went to (private) school in person this week in Houston. I'm in Virginia. I'm concerned about them.

I'm just up I-35 from your daughter, and I went to get a test in Pflugerville, north of Austin. I was told I'd get my results back in 3-4 days, so I was surprised to get my (thankfully negative) result back the very next day.

Ah, Pflugerville - between a Rock and a Weird Place - or so they say. My SIL used to live in Round Rock but moved to Liberty Hill and her daughter and family were in Pflugerville and relocated to Lago Vista on Lake Travis.

Been to Round Rock Donuts? I had a client in Pflugerville, so always had to pick up a dozen RRD's to bring in to their office when I visited. OMG - the best!

Oddly enough, no. And there was a famous ice cream joint as well, and we only went once.

One of the places they went regularly was Gina's (I think was the name), an Italian place that had the type of East Coast stuff that we were used to. At least one take-out BBQ, usually Rudy's. And she cooked quite often. Plus my wife and I would go out to Chuy's for at least one meal.

I never got to know Pflugerville, really - my niece lived in a development and would usually host the family for a cook-out; Round Rock we knew some better, but my SIL and her husband would take us over to Cedar Park as well for some meals. Nice area, it was our second or third choice after Tucson when we relocated 10 years ago ourselves.

The 14-day quarantine period must seem daunting.

As I was just reminded in a news report, we are now 6 months past the WHO's declaration of a pandemic on 11 March 2020. This is indeed a marathon, not a sprint. There will be more tests, more cases, more quarantines.
