“We’re not going to stray from what’s gotten us here,” Hurley said, “from the type of player and person we want, but people really love watching our team. The way we play, the NBA opportunities, winning, it’s all pretty appealing.”
Winning championships is a lot harder than the UConn men have been making it look, but Dan Hurley embraces the challenges and the Huskies are back at it, chasing a third in a row.
Another article from the event on the 4 sophomores making a leap in improvement. Probably deserves to be in a different thread or it's own but....
"We believe that those freshmen-to-sophomores can become real impact players," coach Dan Hurley said on Tuesday night, after being feted with the Saint Francis Award at the Franciscan Sports Banquet at Aqua Turf Club, "because we really like what we're supplementing them with with freshmen and transfers. But, a lot of this year is going to come down to our confidence that those guys are going to be really good."
Are Stewart and Ross, both 3/4 combos, and Ball, more of a shooting guard, ready for this perhaps unexpected influx of competition at their respective positions?'
"They are," Hurley stated, confidently. "You think about the environment they were just in, practicing against Cam Spencer. Practicing against Donovan (Clingan) and Steph Castle, Tristen (Newton), going against that first unit with AK every day. They had the misfortune last year of being on an historic time, how good we were. It became tough to get consistent minutes on a team that good. But we believed in what we saw, from a practice standpoint."
