I'm not certain which UConn WBB player first initiated a chest bump with her teammate to celebrate a big play, frequently after a made basket plus an and 1. I am certain that Nika took the chest bump to another level, agressively stalking teammates after big plays to ferociously administer the celebratory assualt.

In rewatching the UCLA game, I could not help but notice that there was a whole lot of exhuberant chest bumping going on, obviously with good reason, as UConn had a lot to celebrate last night. What I also started to notice was different players reactions and technique relative to chest bumps.

You would think that Paige would be the leader of the chest bumping assualt team, and she was at the start of the season. But somewhere along the way, Jana became the most active and agressive chest bumper on the team, looking for any and all opportunities to smash into one of her teammates. That's fine if it were not for the fact that Jana is the biggest player on UConn's roster, and I must confess, there is something a little scarry about a 6'5" center on a search and destroy mission.

And then there's Sarah. As good as Sarah is as a player, she hasn't quite embraced the whole chest bumping obsession of her teammates. There was a play in the 2nd half when Sarah was fouled making a basket. Jana immediately came flying in as Sarah tried to avoid the collision. She didn't. But just as she thought the attack had ended, in came Paige who smacked Sarah for what was clearly a double-chest bump. The ususally placid Sarah could not help but laugh at her exhuberant teammates.

I am hoping for a chest bumping frenzy by the Huskies during tomorrow's championship game........and also that nobody gets hurt in the process.

Yes, I worry for Caroline when the chest bumping gets excessive.

i remember watching a football game between ND and maybe Michigan a few years ago when one of the ND star cornerback made a huge play and one of his teammate came up and they did the jumping into each other, I guess you could call it the “enhanced” chess bump. The cornerback came down and suffered an ankle injury and had to leave the game. So yeah, it definitely could happen.

Just so it remains at the chest level and never goes any higher.

I never thought that the training room would have to do half-time and post-game chest massages.:D
