In my opinion, the five most amazing stats about UConn's season so far are, in no particular order, as follows:

1. Making 42% of three point attempts - UConn is 158-377 from three point range. Four starters are currently making 40% or better on threes. KLS (45.9%), Kia (43.6%), Saniya (42.2%) and Napheesa (40%) are all a threat from beyond the arc. Add Molly Bent to that group if you wish at 44.4% (4-9). Making threes pulls out the defense and opens up the lane for Gabby and Pheesa. In the past three season's UConn made threes at rates of 38.1%, 40.6% and 36.6%. This current performance is a nice surprise. :D

2. Passing out 455 assists or 22.75 per game. The top three assist leaders from last season graduated. As did the top three scorers. That well oiled offensive machine produced 21.6 assists per game. This year, the offense has matched, then improved that by 1 assist per game. Gabby has more than doubled last year's assist total (107 vs 51). Kia will easily surpass last season's 104 assists and Saniya is already up 100% (68 vs 34). Napheesa (40 vs 34) and Natalie (24 vs 21) have both passed last year's totals, in just 20 games. Everyone has stepped up this part of their game. ;)

3. Scoring 85.6 points per game. The three top scorers from last season graduated having scored 49% of UConn's points. Some wondered where additional scoring would come from this year. Katie Lou (21.6), Pheesa (18.8), Kia (13.3) and Gabby (12.6) are scoring 66.3 points per game. Last season, those four averaged 36 points per game. That is a 30 point improvement, obviously with much more playing time. But accuracy also improved dramatically. Katie Lou went from 39.4% on threes to 45.9%. Napheesa improved from 53.3% to 66% overall. Kia's three point success went from 37% to 43.6%. And finally, Gabby already has 107 made baskets versus 147 all of last year.

4. Gabby and Napheesa - Individually, these two have amazing stats. Combined, they have dominated both lanes like no two undersized forwards have any business doing. Gabby has 107 assists to go with her 107 baskets. Pheesa has 157 made baskets to lead the team. They are #1 and #2 in rebounding at 8.7 and 8.2 rebounds per game. Stewie was at 8.7 per game last season in 29.1 minutes per game. Williams and Collier average 28.4 and 29.3 per game. Gabby and Pheesa have 56 combined blocked shots, 94 combined steals and 112 combined offensive rebounds. They have exceeded expectations.

5. UConn's record is 20-0. Nothing needs to be added to this amazing result.

Go Huskies..!!

Yea, pretty much 2-5 were very unexpected. With KLS back, and Nurse one could assume we'd be a 3 pt threat. Granted not as good as we've been, but close. But those other 4....damn impressive. :D

If the Huskies continue to dole out assists at their current rate and make it to the national championship game they will end up with 865 for the season, breaking the all-time NCAA record of 850, set by the 2013-14 Huskies.

This is why I (like many others that post in here), love this board. Not only we get to express our options but we get great stats like these and stuff on other teams. Thanks and keep 'em coming David!! :D

Stew, Moriah, Tuck had the ball in their hands most of most games. Assist and shot attempts for them would be greater than Saniya, Napheesa, Gabby, KLS, Kia. yet these kids improved on the big 3.
Amazing.
Buried in those stats was one that shocked me--Molly's 3 point shooting stats?? i thought she only took 1 attempt and made it--in the last game. Go Molly.
Thanks David--your stats, game information, tests, are always enjoyable and informative. Thank you.
