UCONN employs a very unique recruiting stategy whereby the HUSKIES stay in the twilight zone.

Consistently out of the limelight, they are very very dangerous.

What is the UCONN hierarchy of traits possessed by the HUSKY playas which the genius braintrust searches for the last 30 years and more times than not locates?

All right, I'll play.

I don't think we've intentionally avoided recruiting the top-rated guys. The fact is, we don't have the history, brand, or location that attracts a lot of the top talent who are looking to coast to the NBA draft. We've tried to get those guys, but usually have lost to national names like UNC, Kansas, and Kentucky.

What we excel at is taking lower-raked, possibly underrated guys with a chip on their shoulder, further instilling in them an attitude of toughness, developing their skills, and coaching them up in a team context to be better than the teams featuring a majority of high-school All-Americans.

But I certainly don't think we seek to be out of the limelight or avoid recruiting top guys.
