Uconn vs the ACC

Just an amazing stat - Uconn's record against ACC teams since January 15, 2007 is 24-0! Six and a half years of total dominance, and it isn't like Uconn is playing against the dregs of the conference - they are consistently playing the top end.
So ... when any ACC coach says to a recruit - look at the conference a team plays in and the competition they face, Uconn can say - look at the conference any other school on your list plays in - and then look at Uconn's record against that conference over the last 10 years!!!
Loved the year where Uconn should have won the ACC crown after beating up on the ACC top regular season teams and all the tournament semi-finalists!

Yes, well, that's the stat against teams that were members of the ACC prior to this year. If we include our record during that same period against the teams currently in the ACC (and thus if we are talking about the ACC as a conference from here on), there's the small matter of ND

You don't sound like a "we", you sound like a "them". By that reasoning we should include all the teams that were in ND's conference over that stretch of time too...you know, the now defunct Big East. I like those numbers.

Well can we add in the record against Louisville, too? 13 - 0 in the last ten years. And the ND numbers are 15-9 for the ten year period so while it raises the numbers a little the story still isn't pretty. The ACC would be adding just a .250 win percentage to an admittedly worse record but I guess they can try and dress it up a little!

Yes, but ... teams do not get to carry their conference record with them when they jump conferences.

Of course - because we are special!
But yes - Uconn's current in conference record is 0-0 soon to be 16-0. But in my scenario it is a comparison of a single school, Uconn, against all historic teams within that conference.

As soon as ND left the Big East they became an obviously softer, less skilled team and Muffet forgot everything she ever knew about coaching. It is going to be a long hard slog back to respectability for them!
Uconn on the other hand didn't leave the Big East, they just renamed their conference and let a bunch of pretender turncoats reuse the old conference name - this is fortunate as Geno and the team have not had the same hurdles to get over that ND is suffering through!

Just had another thought - with the Big East name carrying on with the Catholic league teams are they resetting the record book? If they do not, it may be the next century before a team matches Uconn's 37 big east titles!

The point was never about how good Ucon is, rather the competition they face and play against. The selling point for the ACC is that they are the toughest conference thus teams in that conference face the toughest competition. This would be directed to players who want to play against the best. I don't believe Ucon gets to play itself so while they would count in respect to the actual strength of their conference, they wouldn't count in relation to the toughness of the competition they faced. Only the other teams in their conference would count. So Uconn needs to be removed and only the teams left can be considered in measuring the level of their competition.
