Stewie and Lou!

Puh-leeze, we don't need a wiseass suggesting Stewie and Louie  or. . .

. . . Stew and Lou!

Jeez, #30 and #33 dropped 43 in the first half! vs, Temple 49 for the game!

Maybe we need a new poll (1) LOL ; OMG; or WTF?

It will be fascinating to see how this game launches Lou toward the great she can be. But nothing is guaranteed, of course.

We need everyone because you never how the season will go. Gabby, Napheesa, Natalie and Saniya will be crucial as UConn plays their way through the season. The time the others are getting will help keep the Huskies fresh, and they will be prepared when needed.

CORRECTION! For the record. . .

. . . I mistakenly credited Stewie and Lou with total 43 points in 1st half alone. Actually, that was their game total --although neither played 4th quarter -- too busy performing leg-crossing exercises under watchful eye of Morgan. ;)

Badass needs an award and an honorable mention.

I second that!

Thank you both but I respectfully reject your suggestion as proposed and seconded as it's both impractical and impracticable.

The Temple game demonstrates its impracticality. I awarded two Badass Awards, one each to Stewie and Lou. So if I take one away (from whom?), who gets the HM Award? Gabby? Nat? Collier? Kia? Moriah? or Stewie/Lou? Or all of the above?

We just finished game 15, I have logged all BA awards for every game and posted occasional BA standings. I consider it impracticable either to go back and change all past awards or to change the criteria from game #16 forward.

When I started this, I modeled it after a former (10+ years ago) BY poster who awarded one(!) "game ball" to the star player in each game. I responded to suggestions that one Badass Award per game was often insufficient -- so I made revisions (i.e., "Upon further review. . .") and added a few to deserving badasses.

What I have been doing is not official but seems to enjoy the endorsement ("likes") of most Boneyarders. So I will continue to recognize our Badasses as I have been doing it, always attentive (but not always responsive) to suggestions.

You are of course free to devise your own system to recognize excellence by our UConn Huskies. Good luck with it. :)

Good choices. I wrote in the “Conundrum” thread that Lou would become the fifth starter. This impression came from Geno on the last “GA Show.” Effectively, Lou is the only player who has the potential to step into Bre's shoes. The Californian can't do everything that Stewart can yet, but she has the tools to become the next great Husky. Now, I think, the trip to the NC will be made with the Core Four + Samuelson.

Setting her shooting ability aside, Lou is probably as good a passer as anyone on the team. Her passes fairly crackle getting into the right hands. Her great court vision enables her to do this. Nothing gets you pulled out of a UConn game quicker than throwing the ball away. She is also playing an improved defense, taking the ball to the hoop, and stopping to make short jumpers.

The Temple game was a thing of beauty with the chemistry and flow Husky fans expect and revel in. Unlike the Maryland game, which, according to Geno, was a self-inflicted wound caused not by the Terps but by UConn's tossing the ball around wildly, the game vs the Owls was, to use the announcer's word, a thing of “beauty.”

“Even in a blow-out, it's beautiful to watch UConn operate.” Not hype; just the truth.
