The Mercer women’s basketball team is going dancing for the fourth time in five years and will take on the University of Connecticut in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The No. 2 seeded Huskies (25-5) will host the No. 15 Bears (23-6) Saturday at Gampel Pavilion Saturday March 19th at 1 p.m. ET, and will be shown nationally on ABC. It is the first-ever meeting between the Bears and Huskies, and the first game against a current Big East school since the 2007-08 season.

Uconn record against some potential opponents in Bridgeport:

1. Mercer = never played
2. UCF = 13-0
3. Florida = 2-0
4. Indiana = never played
5. Kentucky = 4-1 (loss was in 1992)
6. Oklahoma = 13-0
7. N.C. State = 6-2 (losses in 1991 & 1998)

All depends on the Huskies winning and moving on.

I'm amazed that UCONN and Indiana have never played each other.

For those too lazy to check out the Daily Campus article or the Mercer team site.........they have two good shooters in Neal-Tysor (leading scorer) and Haupt......so they must be accounted for........Titus and Dougherty, both six footers are their leading rebounders so not a whole lot of size...........I expect UConn to pound the ball inside to ONO, Edwards and Dorka until the defense is packed in and then the three point barrage will begin..........if Mercer's three point shooters are on, they might be able to keep the game close for a while but I don't see UConn's defense allowing too many easy looks.......
