Fun, fun fun! Good: - Confusing/Mystifying Defense - Showing an all-out blitz to then only rush three. Jelani Staffard with a PBU. Interesting that we show DE blitz only to have them drop back in coverage. - 4th Down Defense - Buffalo had 3 chances to get 1 (one) whole yard towards the end of the first quarter. As Adama Sanogo would say, "They thought they could move the ball against us. They did not." Men vs boys right now. All in all, UConn held the Bulls to 0-3 on fourth downs. -3rd Down Defense - Buffalo was 1-14 on 3rd downs. Average line to gain on third downs was 6.8 yards.

Three and outs - UConn forced NINE three and outs. Here's a sequence in the 2nd quarter by the Husky D:
1st and 10 - Sack, Langston Hardy, -6 yards
2nd and 16 - TFL, -3 yards
3rd and 19 - Incomplete pass
Here's another sequence:

1st and 10 - TFL, -1 yard
False Start
Delay of Game
2nd and 21 - 5 yard pass
3rd and 16 - SACK, Langston Hardy, -11 yards
- Cam Edwards. What a block on all-world LB Dolak in the first drive. Fun watching him grow up. He's still growing into his potential. - Skyler Bell. 3 TDS today, first time a UConn skill player did that since 1996. STAR! - Playcalling. OC Sammis is also growing into his potential. I see him actively getting better. On Edwards first TD, he called trips right to put Dolak on that side and ran Edwards the other way. This was most of the game. Excellent overall game plan. - PK Freeman. 100% on field goals since the FAU game. Perfect on all extra points. A question mark to start the season, now an answer. Exactly center through the goal past as well. - Multiple Stars. Buffalo really only has Brian Dolak. But football is an 11-man game. UConn spent most of the game running and passing on the opposite side of the field away from Dolak. We have stars everywhere. Skylar Bell, Cam Edwards, Durrell Robinson, Jelani Stafford, Dalmont Gourdine, Langston Hardy, Jayden McDonald, Cam Chadwick, Jordan Wright, and so many others. - Joe Fagnano. Guy just shows up and is ready to work. 3 TDs and 200+ years in two quarters of play. - We were faster, stronger, better today. Those of you that said you would be happy with UConn FB being mediocre. Well, looks like we're pass that line and into good territory. Meh: - #7 Solomon Brown on Buffalo should've been ejected from targeting. UConn players were removed with less against Maryland. Then to have a pass called back because replay called for a review after the next play already started. At least UConn defense stopped them on 4 and 1 later. Could've been a momentum turn. - I'm not a fan of the shuffling on special teams. It might've messed up the timing of our punter. Special Teams also had two false start. They did well otherwise. - Red Zone offense. UConn was 1-5 in the red zone. The lone TD came from Fagnano to Bell in the 3rd quarter. The others resulted in FGs. All our other TDs came from explosive plays. Misc: - Nick Evers with a hard count that drew a defender offsides, heady play there. Second concussion of the year so far. Kid needs to learn to slide better, faster. - Two QB system. In a way, it worked out that Fagnano was able to get gameday reps due to Ever's injuries. Injuries is not what you want, but silver lining is that we have two capable QBs should one be out. Like today. When was the last time we could say that about UConn football. This might be our deepest team in a decade plus. - Notre Dame. People used the transitive property to say that Buffalo was good team. Because they beat a #23 ranked NUI team that beat a then #5 ranked Notre Dame team. We now know that transitive logic doesn't work in sports. We also know that Notre Dame are cowards for not scheduling us. - Missouri Tigers. The then ranked #9 Tigers beat Buffalo 38-0. By transitive property, not only do we belong in the top 10, but also the SEC.
