Volleyball is ascending and is IMO one of the most enjoyable sports to watch. Fast paced, tons of opportunities for exciting plays, the players show emotion, a 5th set is as tense as it gets. The Big Ten is the powerhouse in the sport, so much talent and support from a number of the programs. Nebraska volleyball is a profit generator for the athletic program, one of the few in the country like UConn women's basketball. I got my mom a piece of the court used for the game at Memorial Stadium for Christmas last year and it is probably going to be impossible to top that gift. Theres a new pro volleyball league and Omaha had 10k attendance per game. Nebraska is crazy about the sport. Creighton is all in on volleyball, won the conference regular season 11 years in a row and won the conference tournament 10 of 11 years. This was Creighton's best shot at the title yet and unfortunately came up short against Penn State in 5 sets in the regional final. Creighton lost 3 times this year all of them went to the 5th set and all 3 losses were against Final Four teams on the road. The Jays program is not UConn basketball, but they have some of the same problems when it comes to the conference competition. Outside of Marquette the rest of the conference has frankly not been competitive. Would love to have a few more programs including UConn to help raise the profile of the conference. It will really help Creighton and Marquette to continue to get opportunities to host tournament rounds and obviously help other programs join as at large bids.
