#UConn closes out its 2016 home schedule with a 1 p.m. match-up vs. @RhodyBaseball at J.O. Christian Field#HookC

Baseball Rounds Out Home Schedule vs. Rhode Island

>>The Huskies own a 113-65-4 all-time record against the Rams in a series dating back to 1896. Connecticut has won two of the last three match-ups, including an 11-5 victory in the last meeting on May 12, 2015.

Connecticut is in search of its second-straight 30 win season – Since Jim Penders took over the helm of the program in 2004, the Huskies have reached the 30-win plateau in nine of 12 seasons.

The Rams enter the midweek contest with a 24-23 overall record and a 15-6 mark in Atlantic-10 action. Rhode Island is tied with VCU for the top mark in the league but has dropped 16 of its 28 road contests in 2016.<<

Another non-RPI killing new england team. Let's get them.

6-2 Uconn, Susi looks good st the plate. I would not throw Zapata mote than 1 more inning because URI saw him last year, too, and seems to be hitting.

Still 11 2, top 6. Zapata slogged through 5 innings but showed enough grit to hold down the fort. Riley in the game now.

Some awful defense, followed up by a great play by Yahn. 11-4 going into the bottom of the 6th.

Susi and Yahn beasting at the plate, and Melley slams a home run! 14-4.

Good time for the bats to get hot. Contributing 1-9. If this continues through the AAC tournament, things will get interesting

That is what you should do to an A10 team at home. Way to finish strong at home. And some one here were asking for less late game drama....did not get that in this game with 6 in top of the first.

Listening on radio they said the crowd was pretty good esp considering it was a mid week afternoon game...good to see kids and seniors get some support on their last official home game

Decent crowd, not huge but definitely more than I expected to see for a Tuesday at 1. Nice to see several hard hit balls and 1-9 being very productive, would be nice to carry the momentum into a big sweep down in Tampa this weekend.

Sounded like a decent start for Zapata. Good to see that Rossomando threw one excellent inning.

In today's postgame interview Penders indicated he would have liked to have pitched Ryan Radue today. However, Radue had an all day class, so he wasn't available to play. So it is possible that we might see Radue in a game down in Florida in the next week or so.

Houston whomping Rice 24-6 ought to help our RPI a bit.

There are probably some people on this board that could pitch for Rice's midweek rotation, but still...
