For those of you looking for a Husky fix to tide you over until Sunday's game, here are two of the most perplexing, satisfying games in recent memory. In the first, Depaul, powered by Aneesah Morrow, Lexie Held and Sonya Morris, come within two points of an upset. But freshmen Carol and Azzi, along with Christyn and Nika, dug deep to find the grit to get this win. Carol was tremendous -- watch this one if you need a reminder of what peak Carol was like.

This is also one of those games in which the officiating was infuriating. It wasn't necesarily one-sided. But it was that era in which Big East refs were calling fouls on the basis of inferences about contact -- was the defender vertical? did they bring their arms down? -- rather than actually seeing contact. I'm not privy to any rules changes, but it seems to me like refs aren't looking to find indirect evidence of fouls anymore. This may have led to a rougher game, which is a different sort of problem than when 'non-contact fouls' seemed to get whistled way too often.

In the rematch a couple weeks later, Carol and Liv were unavailable and Azzi wasn't 100%. But Dorka, Aaliyah, Christyn and Evina stepped up big. Most importantly, Geno and CD gave the bigs more coaching about how to avoid the non-contact fouls on Morrow. And the result was rather different: a 14 pt win. Also, the grappling in the low post between Aaliyah and Aneesah was significant and at a couple of points looked like it may have merited an upgraded foul. This game may also have represented an inflection point in Aaliyah's career, as she seemed more aggressive and confident after this.

Was at the DePaul game. As a lot of fans generally go to their games to see the opposing team, its the first time I can remember hearing them roar for the Blue Devils. And then...Carol etched her name in history lol Good times
