Posted elsewhere, assuming it is not raining tomorrow afternoon, I was thinking about going. Any idea of how it is to park Columbia's athletic campus on the north tip of Manhattan?

I didn't hear the complete story (I got some of it from my wife), but according to Chris Jones on WHUS the UConn baseball bus broke down shortly after leaving Storrs today, and did not arrive at Columbia until 3:25, the game start being delayed until 3:45. So virtually no pre game warmup for the Huskies in this one.

Anyway, UConn is already down 3-0 in the bottom of the 2nd. Kay gave up a two run homer in the 1st. John Toppa in left field throws out a runner at the plate to end the inning.

Sundberg and Yahn score runs in the top of the 3rd, so the score is now 3-2 Columbia.

Sundberg lead off homer ties it up at 3 in the top of the 7th. Meanwhile, Anthony Kay has settled down nicely since the early runs he gave up.

Rats. Missing a good game. Saw the traffic on the NY bound side of the GW this afternoon once the rain cleared and my oldest son is nervous about his first travel baseball game of the year tomorrow, so decided to practice with him instead.

The old bases loaded less than 2 out strike out bug hits again. Leave bases loaded, then lead off homer in bottom of 7. Now trailing by 1 again.

4-3 Columbia wins. The only good news from this game is that Ryan Radue was able to make the bus trip and was in the dugout for the game.

In yesterday's postgame interview with Chris Jones, Coach Penders was pondering changes in the lineup to shake things up. So in today's first game, we have Gnesda on the bench, DeRoche-Duffin at DH, Krueger getting his first start in the outfield, and Aaron Hill back at 2B. My overall impression is that Penders is going for his best speed and defense outfit. I'm guessing we should look out for aggressive base running as well.

Catewith 8 k's through 3. He may want to consider benching Duffin.

With DeRoche-Duffin's sub .200 average, I was thinking Penders may have benched the wrong man with Gnesda.

No score through 5 innings. Cate with 11 strikeouts.

Tim Cate's day is done, terrific performance through 6 innings. Dandeneau is in to pitch the top of the 7th. Still no score.

3-1 Columbia top of the 7th. UConn bats have been very quiet, so the hitting problem remains. Montgomerie relieved Rossomando in the 4th, and has pitched quite well since, no problems with his control. It's possible Montgomerie might be making a bid to return to the starting rotation.
