Yikes nepiarsky off to a tough start. Hope lineup can tee off on a mid week starter for Bryant.

Nepiarsky not sharp today and already gets the hook. Surprised it's not Zapata in relief. Hurt or just in the doghouse?

Penders has mentioned in interviews that Zapata has never done well in relief. From what I can remember, he's right. In the post game interview yesterday, Chris Jones asked who was pitching today, and Penders said it would either be Zapata or Nepiarsky. I'm guessing Nepiarsky got the nod due to his strong start last week. I'm guessing Zapata might get another chance at starting next Wednesday, but we'll see. About the only game Zapata pitched well this season was against Yale in the first midweek game of the season.

Missed the dx the other day but it looks like Troy Stefanski is out for a bit w/ a broken bone in his foot from the weekend per Chris Jones. If Toppa keeps producing he will see increased playing time.

I had heard Chris Jones mention the last couple of days that Stefanski had hurt his foot in Sunday's game. By the way, Gnesda has not been in the lineup much lately. Does anyone know if he is hurt?

Seldom used relievers Jack Riley and Joe Rivera have done fine in relief of Nepiarsky. Rivera in particular has been terrific in an out of the blue outing. 6-3 UConn going into the bottom of the 7th.

Rivera gives up a lead off single in the 8th and comes out. Great outing, I suspect we'll be seeing more of him. Domnarski is coming in, pitching in his 7th(?) straight game.

Polonia gets the save striking out the side in the 9th. Of course, he threw to each batter before getting a strike. Excellent come from behind win against a very good Bryant team.

Quality win, but we need to build on this vs. Houston. We have almost no at-large chances but winning a series vs. Houston, in conjunction with this win, would help our chances.

Huskies Score Six Unanswered in Win Over Bryant

>>Despite trailing 3-0 after a half inning, the UConn baseball team scored six unanswered runs to claim a 6-3 victory over Bryant on Wednesday at J.O. Christian Field. With the win, Connecticut moves over .500 at 16-15, while the Bulldogs, who entered the day No. 27 in the NCAA RPI, fall to 20-7 overall.<<

Next up, the team begins a three-game series with American Athletic Conference foe Houston at J.O. Christian Field. First pitch on Friday, April 15 is scheduled for 3 p.m.
