I think it will be like many of these TV series reboots. Some people will refuse to watch because they liked and want to stick with the old. Some will watch out of curiosity at first. I think the only way for it to have legs is for new competitive games. I find it strange that Parker's name was not mentioned in this entire article when many lesser TN players who were part of the rivalry were.
I think they were only interviewing players who played in the 2000 games (Bird, Cash, Jones, Ralph, Catchings, Randall, Snow). That was well before Parker's time.
The rivalry can't approach the drama and intensity of old simply because Tennessee is no longer the behemoth of WCBB that it once was.
I will say, I enjoyed this article tremendously. Loved the quotes from the players, and it brought back lots of memories. I remember being so elated at the time that a team had finally come along that refused to be pushed around by Tennessee -- team that had always made its money on bully-ball -- and was doing it with a far more enjoyable brand of basketball. I will never tire of watching the drubbings like the 2000 and 2002 semifinal games where UConn put on a total clinic of execution and effort.
