Would it be more impressive with about 20 guys who had more than a cup of coffee NBA careers (e.g. Rip, Caron, Donyell, CV, Ben, Jake, etc.) included with the current NBA players or would that just make the graphic too busy? Would that be more impressive? I'm sure whoever put this together had that dilemma.

I don't think Jake for instance is going to move the needle much. Easier to identify with a few knowns, than a whole mass of guys you can't even see or recognize.
