Katie Lou vs Tulane.jpeg

Any UConn game where Katie Lou leads the team in rebounding and assists, but not in scoring, needs to be highlighted..!! The rest of the stats from the Huskies 91-47 victory over Tulane were equally impressive and a bit odd, as well. Consider:

1. Napheesa and Azura went a combined 17-19 from inside the 3 pt arc. That is 89.5%..!
2. Tulane had 17 turnovers in the 1st half and only 7 baskets.
3. As mentioned, KLS led the team with 9 rebounds and 7 assists..!
4. Kia Nurse blocked 2 shots and now has 12 for the season. She had 11 career blocks in her first 3 seasons. Did she get taller this year..? :p
5. The bench minus Z (Bent, Irwin, Camara and Gordon) played 38 combined minutes, but took only 1 shot. (Irwin was 1-1)
6. The Huskies had 29 assists by nine different players. :D
7. Tulane scored only 16 combined points in the 1st and 4th periods. UConn had 42 pts.
8. Pheesa and Z scored 45 total points. Tulane had 47 for the whole game.
9. UConn won their 50th straight road game. That is a record that keeps getting bigger.
10. For the season, UConn has scored 729 points in the 1st quarter and given up only 321. That is a 15 point advantage every game. ;)

Great game by the starters and Z..!
Go Huskies..!!

An excellent and objective observation Dave. And all of this because the players wanted to rinse that bitter taste from their mouths from that 63-60 narrow win against Tulane in New Orleans a year ago. They checked THAT box!!! They left the arena last night leaving no doubt in anyone's mind who was wearing the BIG drawers!!! :D

It's true. And KLS was VERY much in tune with showing her huge improvement by impacting the game in a huge way without dumping in a bunch of points. This will be key in the Tourney when other teams double her and bounce her all over the court trying to keep her from scoring. It won't matter! :)

On a personal note I beefed up some stats of my own last night between the chat room and the board. Added several new names to my ignore list. The numbers are rising at a record pace this year :p
