For the first time in quite a while, UConn enters a season without a Senior superstar. No one on the roster has scored 1,000 points, no one is a returning 1st team All-American, and no one is in the top 15 all-time for rebounds, assists or steals. There is one player, however, who is quietly moving up the all-time list in blocked shots. Olivia Nelson-Ododa currently stands #11 in Huskie history with 154 blocks. She reached exactly 100 blocks in last year's shortened season, moving her past notable shot blockers Asjha Jones (151) and Diana Taurasi (147). Wait, D.T. was a shot blocker...??

With two more seasons of just 100 blocks, ONO would finish in 4th place all-time with 354 blocks. That would leave her behind only only Kara Wolters (370), Rebecca Lobo (396) and Stewie (414). Very elite company..! Two more season of 110 blocks each lands her in 3rd place at 374 blocks. Can she pass Stewie and reach 1st place as UConn's #1 shot blocker? Stewie began her career with 184 blocks in 79 games, over two season, then wrapped up her Senior campaign with 126 blocks. Olivia has 154 in her first 70 games. That is perhaps too much ground to make up... but the chase will be fun to watch.

Next up for Liv is Peggy Walsh (162), Kelly Schumacher (181) and Maya Moore (204). Then she would have to block her way past Napheesa at 251 and Stef Dolson at 254. That all might happen this coming season... ;) Let's hope so..!

Go Liv..!!
Go Huskies..!!

Did not expect to see Peggy Walsh on that list.

Yeah, so now I wish she actually said "Oh, no!" every time she blocked a shot with the cadence that people used when they say "hell no." That would be pretty entertaining.

Lobo only played about 130 games and Stewie considers her the best. I would have loved to see Kiah play starter minutes. She was so smooth when she blocked shots! A great knack for keeping the ball in play.
