UConn vs USF 4.jpeg

UConn now has four current players in the top 30 All-time points scored list. I believe that is the first time that has ever happened. Kia leads the pack with 1,542 points, good enough for 20th place. Katie Lou is next at #24 with 1,515 points. Gabby at #26 (1,446 pts) and Napheesa at #30 (1,404 pts) round out the list. Here is the list of spots 18 through 30:

18. Swin Cash - 1,583 pts
19. Wendy Davis - 1,552
20. Kia - 1,542
21. Jen Rizzotti - 1,540
22. Cathy Bochain - 1,534
23. Moriah Jefferson - 1,532
24. Katie Lou - 1,515
25. Asjha Jones - 1,502
26. Gabby - 1,446
27. Kalana Greene - 1,444
28. Peggy Walsh - 1,413
29. Chris Gedney - 1,409
30. Napheesa - 1,404

Several players can move up the list with good games against Temple on Sunday
Kia can pass Wendy David with just 10 more points and Katie Lou laps MoJeff with just 17. Pheesa should move up 2 spots with a decent game against Temple. The season could end with these four players all in the top 20 scoring all-time for the Huskies..!! That is a lot of firepower..!

Go Huskies..!!

Closest is the 2013-2104 team? At the end of 2014 season there was...

08 - Bria Hartley -1,994pts
12 - Stefaine Dolson - 1,797pts
16 - KML - 1,613pts
32 - Breanna Stewart - 1,274pts

At the time of their graduation, Swin Cash was 7th, Asjha Jones was 11th, Tamika Williams was 14th and Sue Bird was 19th on the points list. Four of them in the top 20!! Of course, with all the stars who have come since, Tamika and Sue aren't even top 30 anymore.

My thinking is that when they're done it will be:
1. Maya
2. Stewie
3. Katie Lou
4. Tina
5. Pheese

That, of course, is based on their current season scoring averages. Anything can happen between now and then.

What's the prognosis for KLS and Pheesa to finish in the top 10 when all is said and done?
If all goes well, the prognosis is very good.
1. Katie Lou is 479 points away from 10th place.
2. Pheesa is 590 points away.
3. They both have the rest of this year and all of their Senior year to score those points.
4. Last year they both scored in the area of 750 points. :)

Lou and Napheesa should both easily exceed 2,000 points. It will be the first time UConn classmates have done this. The dynamic duo.

Lou should end up third. She likely has 53 games left - 13 this year and with the early season tournament, 40 next year - to reach Stewie who is at 2,676. She would need to average 22 per game to do that, just barely. She is more than capable, but team scoring is too balanced and minutes kept in the high twenties. Of course it was the same for Stewie as she could have scored a whole lot more also.

There is about a third of a season left to play this year. That means Lou and Pheesa have approximately one and one third seasons remaining. If 750 points per season is a good benchmark, both will score about 1000 more points. That's 5,000 points for the pair! WOWZA!

Really enjoyed your posting this!
I think it demonstrates how over the last maybe 5-7 years (or longer) the passing, ball movement and team concept has evolved even further than it was.
Very hard to have four scorers like this on one team and it doesn't count AZ or CD, both of whom will move up over time.

I agree that Lou, if healthy, can pass Tina but probably not quite Stewie. I hadn’t though about Pheesa, but 5th seems realistic. Wow!

If Lou can grab (at least) 1 NPOY award, she can pass Sue and Tina in the UConn rankings. Mount Rushmore??

Is someone going to do a running total? It would be interesting to see where they wind up at the end of the year.

Gabby needs to score a bit more to ensure to be ranked in top 20, however briefly it might be...
