UConn cruised to an 84-67 victory over Boston College with 14 players seeing court time. Here are some stat highlights:
1. Azzi started cold, but hit 5 straight threes to finish with 20 points. She added 4 assists and 3 rebounds.
2. Sarah Strong started off right where she finished last year. 17 points, 8-11 shooting, 5 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.
3. Serah Williams is everything UConn fans hoped she would be. 15 points, 5 boards, 2 blocks and 1 foul.
4. UConn opened cold from three point range (2-17) but caught fire in the 2nd half, going 8-11 from outside the arc.
5. In addition to 14 players getting in to play, 11 scored and nobody was hurt. 😀
6. Starters score 67 points, committed only 2 fouls and had only 5 turnovers.

All of the rookies played hard, but had some tough stats. That will improve with time:
1. Blanca showed potential, but shot 2-8 with 3 fouls.
2. Kayleigh Heckel had a tough day shooting at 1-6 with 4 personal fouls.
3. Kelis Fisher played hard but had 2 quick fouls and went 0-2 from the field.
4. UConn gave up the final 9 points of the game to make the score appear closer than it was.
5. Overall, UConn had 17 personal fouls and 19 turnovers. That will get better with practice.

A nice exhibition victory with 14 players seeing action, nobody hurt and 84 points scored. However, plenty of things to improve on before the Southern Conn. exhibition game on October 26th.

Go Huskies..!!

Also of note was that Serah Williams was 5/6 from the foul line... NICE!

BC had much to be pleased about. The team looked organized, quick, locked-in shooting. All of this should give BC hope for a competitive season.
As for UConn: keep Azzi and Strong.

I was really impressed with Serah. Expected to see a better game from Heckel. Hoping she just needs to settle in.

Sarah looks to be even better than last year. She is clearly in much better condition and is beginning to be a more vocal presence on the court as well. She has to imo, join Dee, Maya, Stewie, and Paige as program changing players. Easy to see why Geno said her commitment “would change the trajectory” of our program. Azzi also looked like she was ready to pick right back up from the Final Four level from last year! She is truly a fearsome weapon who can absolutely blow a game wide open in a matter of two or three minutes. Serah looked to be exactly what we all hoped. I was a bit worried about her as I had read that she was struggling a bit in practice but I’m no longer concerned. I think she’s going to be just as, (if not more so) dominant here at UConn.

Happy to see Allie get a substantial run, I think she could go one of two ways. . She worked hard over the summer, slimmed down, and could claim a spot in the rotation or she continues her erratic play from last year and slowly but surely gets relegated to the end of the bench. I hope that does not happen as I believe she has the potential to replace Azzi next year as our primary sniper from three. She was a real stud at Neenah and I am rooting for her to show that same level here at UConn.

Loved seeing Caroline get some run. I think she is playing a little too fast and will settle down and hopefully play like she did when she carried the team for that brief stretch prior to her concussion issues. I cannot think of anyone I’d rater see succeed more than her! Loved seeing Ash settle in and play like we all expect. I think she’s going to have a big year! Everyone talks about how strong Yanna looks but I think Ice looks like she could run through a wall! She’s yet another player I’m rooting for to have a big season. Jana just needs some more time I think. She also looks like she could screen the opposition off the floor! Geno must be beside himself at the sheer size of this roster! Finally, here’s wishing good health to Morgan Cheli, yet another favorite of mine.

If they can hold opponents to 50-52 ppg and get tht kind of production from Azzi Sarah and Serah each game thn they'll be extremely hard to beat

The round number formula that has held up over the years is allow the opponent no more than 60 points and allow yourself no less than 60 points (and outscore the opponent in overtime as may be necessary if you end up regulation at 60-60 using this formula)
